Built-in professionalism

"He really made our backyard wedding special."

Patrick is wonderful musician!! He really made our backyard wedding special. When our guests arrived, through the ceremony, and into cocktail hour he added just the right ambiance. During dinner and dancing he curated great music for the vibe of the event. We were looking forward to the dance section with friends and family and gave him a sense of the type of music we were looking for. He picked up our tastes just right with the list and added so much with his accompaniment from fiddle to guitar. There were always people on the floor dancing and Patrick balanced our taste with a perfect read of the room.

After the formal wedding was over, our dads picked up their guitars for some late night jam session with the guests. Patrick was packing up but impromptu joined in for the with his fiddle. It was great to watch him get excited about the music and jam it up with them!

...Patrick Was A True Gem To Find

“Patrick was a true gem to find to play at our wedding. He came highly recommended by our wedding venue and after we chatted with him and saw a couple of his videos, we booked him! He is incredibly talented (and super humble). Patrick played our ceremony, including playing my requested song, his rendition of “Rise” by Eddie Vedder on violin as I walked down the aisle, and fiddled everyone down the hill to cocktail hour. We also hired a guitar player, a friend of Patrick’s, to play with him for our cocktail hour and then Patrick DJ’d the night away for the reception. It was incredible, but especially when he fiddled along with the music. Our guests on the dance floor were in awe and stopped to watch him in the balcony. Guests came in from the bar to hear him play. It was so magical. Everyone has not stopped talking about how amazing that was. Patrick was one of the most easy going vendors we worked with for our wedding, a true professional and master of the fiddle for sure! Patrick was flexible, and when I had to make the call to have the ceremony outside when it was pouring rain, he was willing to still play outside with an umbrella. We are so happy we selected him and that he was able to work with us. I would highly recommend him!” -Amber C -2021-

",,,Very Thoughtful In His Approach"

We had Patrick play at our wedding and would highly recommend him.  He worked with us to create musical score for the entire day -- from the walk down the aisle to the cocktail hour to our fist dance.  Patrick was very easy to work with and very thoughtful in his approach to incorporate different styles of music throughout the day.  His talent as a musician and DJ are undeniable, but he's also a great guy, and we very much enjoyed working with him.  We'd highly recommend  him for a wedding or any other event that needs great music!

This is how I approach most weddings: Everything is adjustable so that we can get it just right.  Music can really help with the overall flow of the day.

I arrive 3 hours before the ceremony to set up equipment. Along with a full spectrum sound system for the reception. I can provide a mic and a battery powered speaker for the ceremony if you'd like.

30min. leading up to the ceremony I, "read the room" and play a blend of violin and fiddle music to create an ambiance as people are arriving. If there is a specific piece of music you would like me to play, I will learn it and play my own interpretation of it on violin for when the bride walks down the aisle. If you would like to hear samples, please visit, https://patrickrossmusic.com/your-event. I've played everything from Queen, Phish, Talking Heads, Grateful Dead, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, and more...

During the social hour, I play a mix of acoustic instrumental music. Reading the room,  I play mandolin, banjo, guitars, cello, viola and violin.

For dinner, I can easily act as a strolling violinist or work from a playlist.  Experience has taught me that the right volume for dinner is where people feel the music without hearing it.

I can also act as an MC for any announcements or introductions. I have a wireless mic.

We would work together to figure out first dances and when you'd like to have them if at all.

We would also figure out what kind of music you and your guests would like to dance to.

Here is a link to the master list I use: Very broad list.

We can customize accordingly. Some clients are really hands on with the dance music, others just let me take care of it.

Often clients will provide 3 lists if any. (this is optional)

1. Must play

2. Play it if it feels right

3. Do not play

I would have all the music downloaded in advance and would not rely on wifi for any reason.

My base rate is a day rate :

Rates vary depending on dates and location.

More and more, couples want a live music element for the reception.

Here are 3 different angles:

1. Hire just me:  I play live violin and or cello for ceremony, various acoustic instruments during social hour (ambient instrumental music). As the DJ I would occasionally layer in my electric guitar and fiddle to create a live element to the Dj'ing.

2. (Includes everything from option 1.)  Hire me and my drummer:  We lifted up a wedding in Burke this summer at the Inn At Mountain View Farm. About every 2 or 3 songs, I would fade out the, (insert dance hit) and we would take the rhythm and keep the beat between drums and guitar.  Like handing the baton musically.

3. (Includes option 1 + 2) Hire me, my drummer and my bass player. We are not a cover band, but as a trio, we can do what is mentioned above (musical baton). We did this with great results at The Farm at Williams River House in Chester, VT. back in May. In this case you get the best of both worlds.  You get a blend of studio recordings when I DJ and the vibe of live music when we reinterpret them with danceability in mind.

Each added live musician is $500.

I hope you find this information helpful.  If you would like to schedule a phone call, the best time to reach me is generally M-Thur. 8-9pm

Patrick Ross Ambient Music

When an event calls for live background music, hiring the right musician is important.  A musician who can read the mood of the event and elevate the atmosphere without drawing all the attention is the right musician. This playlist is but one example of a music landscape offered by Patrick Ross.
